Cecily Mitchell, LPC, NCC

Cecily is a Therapeutic Placement Consultant and Family Services Director for The Kinetic People. Prior to becoming a Consultant, Cecily served families in various settings such as residential, outpatient, school counseling and day treatment, with varying levels of leadership. Cecily is passionate about helping families discover their patterns in efforts to become more healthy and experiencing more joyful lives.

Over the course of Cecily’s career she has specialized in working with adolescents with developmental trauma, most often relinquishment from birth parents (or also known as adoption but I am a firm believer the adoption itself isn’t the issue). Additionally, she developed a curriculum for implementing family intensives and launched a family intensive program. Through this program, she served over 150 families and found that not one single family was like the other. Cecily enjoyed facilitating the intensives because it kept each day interesting and not like the next, and allowed for her to use a lot of therapeutic creativity.  These intensive experiences with families also led to a tremendous amount of professional and personal growth which helps in her role now as a consultant and helping guide families to a healthy path. Continued growth is so important to Cecily, and she is often digging in on what the latest happenings are in the mental health field, or educating herself further on something to best serve her clients.

Cecily is trained in Brainspotting, EMDR, and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. She holds a Masters degree in Counseling from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and a Bachelors degree in psychology from Drury University. Outside of work, Cecily has three children who keep her very busy with all of their activities and their big personalities. Cecily and her husband have been together since they were freshman in college and somehow he still manages to keep Cecily on her toes. Together they have a small farm in southwest Missouri with a cows, chickens, cats and a dog. Cecily can often be found running off to grab a quick workout, spending time with friends, or renovating some room in her house. Cecily enjoys traveling to the beach both with and without her children and pretty much the day she gets home from each trip she begins planning the next one! Cecily finds solace in being creative, moving her body, and curling up with a good book when time allows.
